
Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes (russet or yukon gold), diced or thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2β3 tbsp oil or butter
- Salt & black pepper
- Β½ tsp paprika (optional)
- Β½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Optional: 2β3 slices of bacon or sausage (chopped)
Instructions
- Cook the Bacon (Optional)
If using bacon or sausage, cook it in a skillet over medium heat until crispy.
Remove and set aside β keep the fat in the pan for extra flavor. - Add Potatoes & Onions
Add oil or butter to the skillet if needed.
Add diced potatoes and chopped onions.
Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. - Fry Until Golden
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 15β18 minutes until potatoes are browned and tender.
(Donβt stir too much β letting them sit helps them crisp.) - Add Bacon & Cheese
Add the cooked bacon/sausage back in.
Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top.
Cover and let the cheese melt for 1β2 minutes. - Serve
Serve hot as a side dish or even as a full meal with eggs.
