Apple pie French toast on the side sausage & peppers

🍎 Apple Pie French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf brioche or challah bread, thick slices
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (or half & half for richness)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 can apple pie filling (or 2 fresh apples sliced & cooked with sugar + cinnamon)
  • Butter, for cooking
  • Maple syrup or powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
  2. Heat a skillet with butter over medium heat.
  3. Dip bread slices into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  4. Cook each slice until golden brown on both sides (about 2–3 minutes per side).
  5. Top with warm apple pie filling.
  6. Finish with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of maple syrup.

🌶️ Sausage & Peppers (Side)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage (links or cut into chunks)
  • 2 bell peppers (red + green), sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sausage and cook until browned (about 6–8 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions and peppers until soft (about 5 minutes).
  4. Add garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper; cook 1 minute.
  5. Return sausage to pan, toss together, and cook until sausage is fully done.
