Loaded Bacon Cheeseburger Onion Rings

🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 large yellow onions (cut into Β½-inch thick rings, separated)
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 4–5 strips bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Β½ tsp black pepper
  • Β½ tsp garlic powder
  • Β½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

1️⃣ Prepare the Filling

  1. In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned.
  2. Drain excess fat and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Stir in the chopped cooked bacon and shredded cheddar.
  4. Let the mixture cool slightly.

2️⃣ Stuff the Onion Rings

  1. Lay onion rings on a tray.
  2. Spoon the cheeseburger mixture inside each ring, pressing it in firmly to fill the center.
  3. Freeze the stuffed rings for 15–20 minutes so they hold together while coating.

3️⃣ Coat the Rings

  1. Prepare 3 shallow bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  2. Dip each frozen stuffed ring in flour β†’ egg β†’ breadcrumbs, making sure it’s fully coated.

4️⃣ Fry

  1. Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
  2. Fry rings in small batches for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Air Fryer Option:
Spray coated rings lightly with oil and air fry at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway.
